Supporting the Valles Caldera National Preserve
for present and future generations

Los Amigos Participation in
Valles Caldera NPS
Birthday Celebration

Los Amigos de Valles Caldera partnered with the Valles Caldera National Preserve on August 27th to bring special events to help celebrate the National Park Service centennial anniversary. Visitation on Saturday was the highest so far this year. It was a great day with lots of first time and frequent visitors who enjoyed the events offered that day.

Los Amigos sponsored a variety of family-oriented activities, including face painting for children, live birds from the Española Wildlife Center, and plein air painting demonstrations by local artists. A highlight of the Los Amigos sponsored events was the live musical performance from Grammy award winning Black Eagle from Jemez Pueblo.

Located in the heart of the Jemez Mountains in north-central New Mexico, the preserve features huge mountain meadows, abundant wildlife, and meandering streams. The area also preserves the homeland of ancestral native peoples and embraces a rich ranching history.
